The following paper has the main purpose of analysing the proposition and its logical form in the light of Wittgenstein's contributions in the Tractatus logico-philosophicus. The emphasis will be on how the logical form influences the determination of the sense of the proposition. In this way, first, the nature of the proposition and, then, its figurative form, which is a necessary condition for determining the figurative sense of the proposition, will be exposed. Finally, the thesis according to which the determination of meaning is achieved by presupposing the existence of a real world in which things are related in such and such a way will be sustained, thus assuming a realist reading of the theory of representation that Wittgenstein develops in his Tractatus.
