Abstract

In this paper I will try to show some repercussions that come from the mind/ body problem, especially how there is a mistaken interpretation about the Cartesian concepts, principally in relation to the fake opposition between the soul (mind) as something immaterial, without dimensions, not separable and so on; and the body (brain) as something material, with proportions, divisible and so on. In order to demonstrate it, I’m going to analyze some contemporaneous perspectives concerning to the philosophy of mind as the behaviorism, functionalism, and artificial intelligence, among others, showing how these leave out the principal feature of the mind it is the Qualia or qualitative characteristics of the mental life.
